So now I have a Logitech strapped to the display, covering up the old camera. Which is a huge shame because the quality of the webcam was quite good. Plus another one: the webcam video is bizarrely laggy. I am now on an M1 Air and I still have all the same problems with the display I had with my previous Intel MacBook Pro. One of the buttons "helpfully" opens the Displays control panel for you. The app appears to do absolutely nothing. USB devices plugged into it mysteriously stop working. Putting the Mac too close to the display would prevent wifi from working. My Mac would kernel panic when being plugged in or disconnected. 5k! But then I started noticing the problems. I foolishly shelled out several thousand dollars for a new LG Ultrafine 5k back in 2017 when I started my new job. Both are just locked to maximum and changing either is through the one button on the bottom. I don't use this button often, but it is annoying that I can't just use the brightness button on my keyboard to bring the brightness of the monitor down considering the monitor is just suposed to be displaying the mac exactly how it would look if I was just looking at the mac!!! same thing with volume. But you can't, you have to use the poorly designed one button on the bottom of the monitor. I was excited at first because I figured this app would make it possible for me to change volume and displays settings through the mac. Any other button in the app that you should be able to click on, doesn't work. All it does is open the displays page in settings. However, when I was messing around trying to find the ways to maximize the use of the screen I stumble upon probably the dumbest app ever to exist. Only one cord into my mac, which is just dandy. The USB-C connection charges my computer as well so I can have the lid closed and use a USB-ethernet on the back of the monitor for better internet. I stumbled upon that monitor and it has quite a few functions which is awesome! I have my Mac, a Wii, and a PS3 all connect at once and just need to switch inputs to change. I have an LG UHD Ultra Fine 4K monitor that I really wanted to use for my MacBook air to have a bigger screen.
